Below are places that are opened and closed on Christmas in New York to help make the best experience possible. If a location that is closed is on your list of places to see, please try and visit there the day before or after if your scheduling time permits. When visiting, be sure to adhere to the curfews set by each venue to avoid any desk appearance tickets from local law enforcement for trespassing.
American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History is unfortunately closed on Christmas (along with Thanksgiving) Day
Banks
Bank of America, Capital One Bank and many other banks are unfortunately closed on Christmas Day. Their ATM’s across the city will be available for customers and non-customers to utilize but will not be helpful for turning foreign currency into usable currency in New York.
Brooklyn Museum
The Brooklyn Museum is unfortunately closed on Christmas (along with Thanksgiving and New Year’s) Day.
Big Apple Bus Tour
The Big Apple Bus Tour is closed (or will have limited hours) on Christmas Day. If open with limited hours, take advantage and enjoy a quick tour around to see opened New York City attractions.

Department Stores (Opened)
For last minute shoppers, Billabong, Dr. Jays and Esprit will be open for your needs and may have early closings and/or late openings on Christmas Day.
Ellis Island
The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island is unfortunately closed on Christmas Day. Feel free to catch a view from the Staten Island Ferry if you will be in New York for Christmas day only.

Emergency Services (Police, Fire & Ambulance) will be available on Christmas Day.
